Wintering Cows

Well getting all your stock through winter with adequate feed, whilst safeguarding paddocks to allow good spring growth is not a simple matter!

We’ve got the mixed age cows up the hill grazing on the roughage (whatever that is) and are trying to last them as long as possible before they come back down the hill.  So Dad and I went up to check them out.  They’re doing surprisingly well – some are looking a little skinny, but all in all they’re doing well.

So Dad and I sussed out how much there was left for them to eat (enough for a few more days) and back down the hill we went…
